Creating bright ambiguous figures, Julia deLeon addresses gender expression and identity within her artwork. This concept is created by a juxtaposition of layering painted figures on top of found photographs and patterns. The bright hues create a playful contradiction between society's gender roles which allows the viewer to decide the narrative. Julia deLeon is an art educator in the DFW area. She is a current Master of Art Education student at Texas Tech University. She uses her artwork to bring awareness on identity and begin dialogue on gender expression.
